Amazonの電子書籍が年内にも日本に進出するということで、日本のニュースが賑わっている。これを脅威だと感じる人は少なくないだろう。

けど、Amazonの本当の脅威はその先にある。そう、真の脅威は『出版社としてのAmazon』だ。

Amazonはこの秋、アメリカで１２２冊の本を出版する。電子書籍限定ではなく、紙媒体でも出版する。出版業界のベテラン、Laurence Kirshbaum率いるこの部門は、著名な作家に数千万円相当の報酬を出し、積極的にアプローチをかけている。
